Career
In May 1958 he was invited to the national youth team for the match in Flensburg against Denmark, where the Germans won 4: 2. At 19, he made his debut in the German amateur national football team amateurs in a victorious match against England. This year, he also won the local lovers cup with Hamburg. In the 1960/61 season, Kurbune moved to the Hamburg club, which played in the North league.
Hamburg until 1972
Coach Gunter Malmann immediately began to use Kurbyuna as a left-back, who could connect to the attack and score a goal. In the last rounds of the German football championship from 1961 to 1963, Kurbune played 13 games with Hamburg. The apogees were the European Cup games of the European champions in 1960/61 with Young Boys and English masters from Burnley FC. Having passed these teams, Hamburg reached the semifinals against Barcelona. On April 12, 1961, a 20-year-old defender experienced true charm from the fight at the Nou Camp, where 90. 000 spectators watched the Brazilian striker Efaristo scored the only winning goal for the Catalans in the 46th minute (1-0).
In the second match and in the final game of May 3, 1961 in Brussels, Evaristo's goals decided the game again.
Kurbyun was the main player of the team in 1963, on August 14, 1963, he won with the score 3: 0 from Borussia Dortmund German League Cup - 3 goals scored by central forward Uwe Seeler. Up until the 1971/72 season, Jürgen Kurbune played 242 games and scored 10 goals. The greatest success for him was the achievement of the cup final of the cup winners in 1968. The final game Hamburg lost to Milan 0: 2 - it was a bitter hour for a reliable left back of Hamburg: the 33-year-old hit Kurt Hamrin reached for the pawnshops of both hits. The last match of the German league was held by Kurbyun on October 30, 1971. The match ended with the loss of “Hamburg” 1: 4 “Bavaria” from Munich. Hamburg's coach was then Klaus-Dieter Oaks. This was the end of his career Kurbyuna.
For Hamburg I played 242 games, scored 11 goals.
