The Duchy of Courland, Semigale and Piltene ( Latvian Kurzemes, Zemgales un Piltenes hercogiste ; French Duché de Courlande, Semigallia et Piltene ; German Herzogtum Kurland, Semgallen und Piltene ) is a territorial entity. Appeared in 1812, on the territory of Courland occupied by Napoleon . Karl Friedrich von Medem was elected Chairman of the Board, Dietrich Ernst von Schöpping and Wilhelm Rüdiger became his advisers. G. von Engelhardt was appointed prosecutor. On October 8, General Campredon was appointed Governor-General of Courland.
On December 20, 1812, with the departure of Napoleon, the Duchy of Courland, Semigale and Piltens ceased to exist.
