Biography
Born in 1925 in the village of Matyshevo (now the Rudnyansky district of the Volgograd region ).
He graduated from high school, after which he worked as a mechanic at an ammunition plant. In October 1943, Klimashkin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front as the commander of the machine gun crew of the 174th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 57th Guards Rifle Division of the 8th Guards Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . Repeatedly distinguished during the liberation of the Dnepropetrovsk region of the Ukrainian SSR [1] .
On January 31, 1944, in a battle near the village of Novo-Nikolaevka, Klimashkin destroyed more than 40 enemy soldiers and officers. On February 1, 1944, during the battle for the Shevchenko farm, he destroyed 16 more soldiers and officers. On February 7, Klimashkin replaced the deceased company commander and organized a reflection of the German counterattack. In that battle, he was injured, but continued to fight. On February 17, in the battle for the village of Velikaya Kostromka of the Apostolovsky District, Klimashkin, despite his wound, burst into the house where the enemy machine gunners were seated and engaged in hand-to-hand combat. In that battle, he destroyed 26 enemy soldiers and officers, but he also died. He was buried in the Great Kostromka [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 3, 1944, for the "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism" of the guard, Red Army soldier Alexey Klimashkin was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union .

In honor of Klimashkin, streets in Veliky Kostromka, Donetsk and Moscow are named [1] . Forever enlisted in the personnel lists of the 174th Guards Rifle Regiment (order of the Minister of Defense of the USSR of April 5, 1956) [1] .
