Player Career

A native of Glasgow, Jimmy began playing soccer professionally for English Leeds United in 1964. I could not gain a foothold in the main squad, and having spent only 4 official matches for the club, I was sold to Southend United in 1970. Later he played for the Scottish clubs Morton , St. Mirren , Clydebank for the Irish Cork Hibernians .

Coaching career

After completing his career as a player, Jimmy returned to Leeds United, where he was an assistant to Eddie Gray . In 1985, after the dismissal of Gray, he left the club. In 1990, he accepted the offer to head Bristol City , having worked as the club’s head coach until 1992.

In 1998 he moved to the coaching staff of the Preston North End Club. In February 1998, Gary Peters resigned as Preston head coach and was replaced by 34-year-old club defender David Moyes . Moyes invited Lamsden to the position of assistant. In the 1998/99 season, Preston entered the playoffs of their league (losing to Gillingham), and the next year won the Second Division, and the club entered the First Division. In the 2000/01 season, Preston again played in the playoffs of their division, this time for the right to enter the Premier League, but lost to Bolton in the final match.

After Moyes moved to Everton in March 2002, Lamsden followed him to Goodison Park . He became an assistant to Moyes and Alan Irvine.

In the summer of 2013, after Moyes left for Manchester United , Lamsden entered the coaching staff of the Red Devils along with Steve Round and Chris Woods , with whom he worked together at Everton [1] .
