The village is located on the left high and steep bank of the Ukhra River, downstream and northwest of the center of the rural village of Arefino at a distance of about 7 km (in a straight line). Upstream, at a short distance from the village, the left tributary of the Talitsa flows into Ukhra . From Chashkovo to the north, northwest down the left bank of Ukhra there is a road along which the villages of Shatino , Novaya Gorka , Karelino are less than a kilometer from each other and from the bank of Ukhra. In the opposite direction, south of Chashkovo this road crosses the Talitsa river in the village of Subbotino and then turns east to the village of Gorodishka . On the opposite right bank of Ukhra are the lands of Poshekhonsky district . There are agricultural lands along the Ukhra River, but further to the west and south-west of Chashkovo there is a large, partially marshy forest ^[2] .

The village of Chashkovo is indicated on the plan of the General Land Survey of the Rybinsk district in 1792.

As of January 1, 2007, there were 4 permanent residents in the village of Chashkovo ^[3] . A post office located in the center of the rural village of Arefino serves 19 houses in the village of Chashkovo ^[4] .
