Ulysses 31 ( Jap. 宇宙 伝 説 ユ リ シ ー ズ 31 Utyu Densetsu Yurisizu Sativan , Space legend Ulysses 31 ) - an anime- series of Japanese-French production, released by TMS Entertainment [1] . In total, 26 anime episodes were released, each lasting 25 minutes. Anime director Tadao Nagahama, screenwriter Jean Chalopen. After the release of the series was broadcast in France . In Japan, it was shown only in 1988 on the Nagoya TV channel in the number of the first 12 episodes. The entire series was shown on the NHK channel in 1991 , by the time of the demonstration it was completely re-voiced [2] . The series was also broadcast on the territory of Spain , Italy , Germany , Poland , Sweden and the Philippines [3] . The first 4 episodes are available in English on the Jaroo website [4] . The style of animation is a transition between Japanese and Western, the style of Greek sculptures was taken as the basis for the appearance of the characters [5] .

A year before the appearance of the series, a pilot OVA series was released under the simple name Ulysses 31 , the design of almost all the characters was significantly different from the original [5] .
Content
Story
The plot is based on Greek mythology about the Odyssey (in the series known as Ulysses). The action takes place in the 31st century. Ulysses, along with his crew on a giant spaceship, intends to overthrow the Gods of Olympus , who seized power over the universe. First, he destroys the giant cyclops and saves children, including his son. Zeus, as a sign of punishment, freezes the entire crew of Ulysses, but he reaches the kingdom of Hades , where his crew is reborn again. Ulysses must now return to Earth. On the way, he meets other famous heroes of Greek mythology.

- Ulyssey ( ユ リ シ ー ズ Yurisizu )
- The main character and captain of the ship Odysseus . For a long time he maintained peace in the solar system, but then the gods of Olympus attacked him and seized power. Fights with a lightsaber . Also has a light shield and belt, which allows him to fly. Noble and full of a sense of honor, he fights with the gods to overthrow them and return the world to the universe.
- Telemachus ( テ レ マ ー ク Teramaku )
- The son of Ulysses and a close friend of Yumi. A brave and courageous, experienced pilot fires energy balls from a slingshot.
- Yumi ( Japanese ユ ミ Yumi )
- A blue humanoid hails from the planet Zotra. The younger sister of Numinor has telepathic abilities and telekinesis. She, Numinor and Telemachus were supposed to be the next victims of the Cyclops, but they were saved by Ulysses. Despite her physical disabilities, she is very smart and brave, not susceptible to fire.
- Numinor ( Japanese ユ マ イ オ ス Yumayosu )
- Yumi's older brother, like her, has blue skin and white hair. Ulysseus was saved from the cyclops. Like most crew members, he was in a state of suspended animation for a long time. Very kind, polite, and at the same time faithful.
- Nono ( Japanese ノ ノ Nono )
- Telemachus, a small mechanical companion, was presented to him on his birthday. He likes to eat nuts and nails. Despite his timid character, he has tremendous physical strength and can quickly fix any equipment.
- Sirka ( Japanese シ ル カ Siruka )
- Computer system of the ship Odysseus. He speaks in a female voice.
- Zeus ( Jap. ゼ ウ ス Zeusu )
- Supreme god of Olympus . Throughout history, he has been pursuing Ulysses and trying to harm him.
- Poseidon ( ポ セ イ ド ン Poseidon )
- God of the seas. He became furious when Ulysses killed his creation - the Cyclops. His spaceships are in the shape of a trident.
- Hades ( Japanese. デ ス Adesu )
- God of the underworld. He is not on the side of the gods of Olympus and later helps Ulysses return to Earth.
