Fort Totten is an underground interchange station for the Washington Metro on the Red , Yellow, and Green lines. It is represented by two island platforms, one at each level: the upper level platform is used by the Red line, the lower level platform is used by the Yellow and Green lines. The lower level of the station is unique because the platform is located on a hillside and thus part of it is located in a rocky tunnel, and the other part is open above the ground. The station is served by the . Located in the Fort Totten neighborhood, close to Manor Park and Riggs Park in the parkland of clipped South Dakota Avenue, Riggs Road and North Capitol Street, Washington's Northwest Quadrant . Passenger traffic - 2.661 million (as of 2010) [1] .

The station was opened on February 6, 1978 .
The opening of the station was combined with the opening of two more stations: Tacoma and Silver Spring - both on the Red Line. The Yellow and Green lines have been serving the station since the opening of the West Highsville - Greenbelt section on December 11, 1993 . Since 2006, the Yellow Line serves the station only during off-peak hours and on weekends, as well as such stations: Show - Howard University , U Street , Columbia Heights and Georgia Avenue - Pators . On the Green Line heading north, this is the last station in the District of Columbia.
