Geography
The village is located 7 km from the administrative center of the commune of Olesno and 43 km from the administrative center of the province of Opole .
History
Until 1947, the village bore the German name Schoffschutz. During the Upper Silesian plebiscite of 1921, 358 people who had the right to vote lived in the village. 351 people took part in the plebiscite, of which 233 people (66.4%) voted for joining Poland and 117 people (33.3%) voted for joining Germany [1] .
In 1925, 929 people lived in the village, in 1933 - 705 people, in 1939 - 687 people [2] .
March 15, 1947 the village was renamed Sovchitsa [3] .
In 1975-1998, the village was part of the Czestochowa Voivodeship .
Attractions
- Church of St. Anthony of Padua, dating from 1586 - a cultural monument of the Opole Voivodeship;
- The manor complex with the park is a cultural monument of the Opole Voivodeship.
