Emergency and emergency exits in buildings

The number and width of evacuation exits is calculated based on the number of people in the building and the distance of these exits from places of possible stay of people. The emergency exit from the first floor, as well as the basement and ground floors should lead directly to the street, and from the second and higher floors - through the stairwells and external stairs . Parts of the building, separated by firebreaks , must have their own exits. The direction of evacuation must be indicated by signs that have a backlight from the emergency lighting network, their own emergency power supply source, or painted with luminescent paint.

According to the requirements of SNiP RF dated July 21, 1997, the emergency exit height must be at least 1.9 m and width at least 1.2 m for the number of people in the room from 15 to 50 and at least 0.8 m for the maximum number of people indoors no more than 15 [3] . On technological floors, emergency exits with a minimum height of 1.8 m are allowed, in case of using these floors, only emergency communications with a size of 0.75 × 1.5 m or hatches with a size of 0.6 × 0.8 m are allowed for building communications [ 3] .

Emergency transport exit

Public transport must provide exits for cases when work exits cannot be used in the normal mode:

  • doors with remote control must have an emergency opening mechanism in the immediate vicinity of the door;
  • Vehicles must be equipped with emergency exits through windows and hatches. A hammer can be provided to exit through the windows, which should break the glass.
  • In aviation , emergency ladders are used to evacuate passengers from an aircraft , as well as exits to the aircraft wing .
