Biography

In 1921 he graduated from the first Minsk Soviet school. He worked in the choir of the Ukrainian theater troupe, sang in amateur choir circles, and later led several of them. From 1923 to 1926 he served in the ranks of the Red Army , where he was engaged in Red Army amateur activities.

Since 1926 - choirmaster and actor of the Belarusian Mobile Drama Theater (Belarusian 3rd State Theater). In 1932-1935 he led amateur groups in Minsk.

At the same time until 1931 he studied at the Minsk College of Music. In 1931 he became a member of the composer organization of Belarus. In the years 1932-1935. continued his studies at the Belarusian State Conservatory named after A.V. Lunacharsky in the composition class of N. Aladov . Continuing to improve musical education, in 1931 he graduated from the composition class of B. A. Bely in the same place.

In 1937, with the active participation of N. Sokolovsky, the State Song and Dance Ensemble of the BSSR was organized, whose composer worked as choirmaster until the start of World War II. Having evacuated from Minsk, he worked for some time at one of the military factories, and then in 1941-1943 he served in the Soviet army. In 1943 - artistic director of the Polesskiy Regional Song and Dance Ensemble.

In 1944-1946 - head of the department of amateur performances of the Department of Arts under the Council of People's Commissars of the BSSR. Since 1946 - senior editor of the musical literature of the Belarusian State Publishing House.

He died on November 13, 1950. He was buried in a military cemetery in Minsk.

Creativity

The author of the music of the National Anthem of the Belarusian SSR (1952).

While working in the theater, connected with numerous trips around the republic, she allowed N. Sokolovsky to record over 500 Belarusian folk songs and instrumental tunes, melodies, dances, a significant part of which was processed by him and entered the repertoire of the theater choir, soloists, amateur art groups, in particular, processing of folk songs for sextet domr , cymbals , choir, solo singing, accompanied by a piano .
