History
Before the official award was issued to soldiers-internationalists in the USSR , several unofficial signs appeared for participating in the fulfillment of an international duty, but their rewarding was fragmented, there was no centralized system for rewarding people who performed international duties in the USSR. Therefore, the question soon arose of creating an official award in the Union for this category of persons.
On December 28, 1988, the badge appeared the badge of the established form along with the Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR to the soldier-internationalist. "
1. Establish a Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR to a soldier - internationalist.
2. Awarded with a Certificate of Honor to the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR a soldier - an internationalist of the military personnel of the Armed Forces of the USSR for fulfilling the international duty in the Republic of Afghanistan from 01.12.1979.

Description

Sign Description:
A round laurel wreath on which a red five-pointed star with a white fringing is superimposed. Three radially directed golden risks are located on its rays. In the center, against the background of a blue globe with a grid of meridians and parallels, a handshake is depicted. Around the globe is a red belt with the inscription: to an internationalist warrior. Below is a small shield with a convex inscription: "USSR" . With the help of an eye and a ring, the sign is attached to a rectangular block, which has a bottom cut for tightening with a red moiré tape 24 mm wide. All details, inscriptions, collars and bezels of the sign are golden.
