In 1959, he organized a rugby team at the Moscow Aviation Institute . In the period from 1959 to 1971 he was a player, captain and coach of the team. The time of his coaching work is estimated as the most productive for the MAI team.

During the period of V. Petrenchuk's work as a state rugby coach in the structure of the USSR State Sports Committee (1973-1987), Soviet rugby gained popularity in the country and was recognized on world fields.

From 2001-2011, he was a member of the Presidium and Executive Director of the Russian Rugby Union (SRP) .

Since December 2011 - Advisor to the President of the Russian Rugby Federation .

Biography

Student Years and the Beginning of the Rugby Movement

Vadim Petrenchuk was born and spent his childhood and youth in the village. Mammoth (Pushkino) , Moscow region . According to the memoirs of V. K. Petrenchuk, his acquaintance with rugby happened as follows:

The graduation of our school in Mamontovka in the suburbs was very strong - 17 medalists ... Everyone was fond of different sports ... Everyone was preparing to enter prestigious universities - MAI, MVTU, MPEI, MIPT. As a result, three ended up at the Moscow Aviation Institute and one at the Moscow Technical University. Once our “Bauman” brought a rugby ball and talked about the fact that in the Technical School. Bauman is played with such a ball in an exciting game. [2]

In September 1958, at the main building of the Moscow Aviation Institute , V. Petrenchuk, at that time a 2nd year student of the department “Aircraft Engines” ( mechanical engineer of rocket engines ), posted an announcement that everyone who wanted to engage in a new sport - rugby must get together at the stadium, since he was right under the windows of the educational building. Quite a lot of people came, most of whom had good training in various sports. From these guys the backbone of the team was formed, which began a successful march through the sports peaks of college sports.

Already in October 1959, a team organized by V. Petrenchuk appeared in the First Intercity Tournament in which teams from the Moscow Aviation Institute, Moscow Higher Technical School, Voronezh Forestry Engineering Academy and Nikolaev Pedagogical Institute took part.

In the 1960 season, as part of the MAI team, V. Petrenchuk became the champion of Moscow . In 1963, a player of the Rugby national team DSO Burevestnik, in which he won the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions .

After graduating from the institute in 1963 and starting his career at OKB-1 (now RSC Energia ), V. Petrenchuk does not leave sports and heads the MAI rugby team from 1966 to 1971 as a coach. Under his leadership, the Mayovites achieved the highest successes in the entire history of the team, having won a bronze medal (1969) and two silver (1970, 1971) USSR championships

From 1964 to 1968 V. Petrenchuk is chairman of the coaching council of the Rugby Federation of Moscow.

From 1967 to 1989 - Member of the Presidium of the All-Union Rugby Federation;

In 1972, V.K. Petrenchuk was awarded the status of rugby coach of the highest category

Rugby Movement Development

In 1973, V.K. Petrenchuk was appointed USSR State Rugby Coach . The program for the development of rugby in the USSR for the coming years has been approved. The main milestones are the entry into the FIRA, the organization of the national team, etc. In the 70s V.K. Petrenchuk dealt with the problems of rugby movement at the state level, represented Soviet sport in international rugby sports organizations - the Union of Socialist Countries Rugby Federations and at FIRA.

In 1978, V. Petrenchuk graduated from the Sports Department of the Moscow Regional State Institute of Physical Culture ( MOGIFK ). In addition to his main activity, he is involved in writing articles and educational literature.

With the direct participation of Petrenchuk V.K. in 1974, the USSR national rugby team was first created, which made its debut in the European Championship, and two years later played in the major league of this championship. From 1976 to 1983, V. Petrenchuk, member of the Executive Committee of the European Rugby Federation (FIRA).

In 1992, Vadim Petrenchuk, together with Alexander Grigoryants, came up with the initiative to create the Burevestnik Rugby Veterans Club, whose vice-president he was elected from 1992 to 2000

In 1994, as part of a team of rugby veterans, Vadim Petrenchuk personally participated in the World Sports Veterans Games in Brisbane ( Australia );

From 2001 to 2011, as executive director of the Russian Rugby Union, V. Petrenchuk led the activities of the directorate (executive body of the CPP), including the current international activities of the CPP.

Since December 2011 - Advisor to the President of the Russian Rugby Federation .

In December 2011, Vadim Kondratievich Petrenchuk was one of the first to enter the “Hall of Fame” of Russian rugby.
