Resident Evil: The Last Chapter

The film begins with Alice's account of the events leading up to the genocide of the human race . Professor James Marcus once founded a powerful and influential commercial structure - Umbrella Corporation. Marcus had a daughter, Alicia. The girl suffered from a rare disease - progeria , which caused premature aging. Marcus tried his best to save his daughter, but the chances were a little less than insignificant. Then Marcus decided to keep the image of Alicia as accurately as possible. He created a digital copy of the girl, recording her appearance and voice in the computer database of the corporation. Finally, Marcus found a way to save Alicia. He developed a T virus that can repair diseased and damaged cells in the body. The virus saved the girl. The invention of Marcus was to be a panacea for all diseases. However, it later became clear that the virus is extremely dangerous. It caused great aggressiveness and bloodthirstiness in people, in other words, turned them into cannibals . The corporation's first T-virus incident was concealed. Marcus, foreseeing a possible catastrophe, closed the study of the T-virus. Dr. Alexander Roland Isaacs, his business partner and co-owner of Umbrella Corporation, found out about the invention of Marcus, who saw huge military potential in the T-virus. However, Marcus refused to continue developing the virus. Isaacs, foreseeing such an outcome of their conversation, had previously conspired with a corporation employee Albert Wesker . Wesker killed Marcus. Isaacs adopted Alicia, which appropriated the board and its share in the company to itself. The corporation, based on ideals, is mired in lies and thirst for power. To control the already broad interests of Umbrella Corporation, Dr. Isaacs created powerful artificial intelligence that became the core of Umbrella's corporate system. When developing the graphical interface, Isaacs used a digital copy of Alicia Marcus. He called the computer the Red Queen.

In the next scene, Alice comes to life in the ruined White House . In search of survivors, Alice wanders into the ruined building. Inside it, through the computer, the Red Queen connects to her. She explains to Alice that Washington was from the very beginning a trap set up by Wesker. The queen reports that Alice must reach Raccoon City within 48 hours, otherwise the last survivors on Earth will be destroyed. There is an antivirus in Hive that can destroy the T-virus and the organisms infected with it.

Alice is captured by Umbrella soldiers led by Dr. Isaacs on their way to Raccoon City. Isaacs, previously killed by Alice at a base in the Nevada desert, was just a clone. After a brief confrontation, during which Isaacs loses his left hand, Alice manages to escape and get to the ruined Raccoon City . On the way to the Hive, Alice joins Claire Redfield, who survived the corporation’s attack on Arcadia, as well as with a small group of survivors. Alice encourages them to go with her to the Hive, as an army of zombies was approaching the city, which Dr. Isaacs brought with him.

Alice with a detachment, fighting off mutated dogs, gets to the entrance to the Hive, which is located at the bottom of the explosive funnel of the atomic bomb that destroyed the city. The Red Queen is programmed to obey the leadership of the corporation, including Isaacs, so she cannot cancel his orders. However, directives to protect human lives are a priority for the Red Queen, which is why she goes against her creators and asks Alice to help stop Isaacs. The Red Queen also warns Alice that there is a corporate spy among them.

The squad makes its way through the ventilation shafts and laboratories of Umbrella. Only Alice, Doc, and Claire survive. Redfield is caught in one of the laboratories, from where he escapes with the help of a charge of improvised explosives. Alice and Doc go to the core of the Red Queen. The laser-guarded corridor still contains ammunition left from the special forces detachment that opened the hive for the first time after the incident . Alice arms herself and gives Doku a submachine gun . Through the control room, which turns out to be an elevator to the lower levels of the Hive, they go down and see many cryocapsules with people. They are the top management of the corporation. They mine the levels and go to the control center of the complex. Alice meets the real doctor Isaacs, who shows her a test tube with antivirus. Wesker grabs Claire, and Doc turns out to be a corporate spy. Isaacs says Alice is a clone. In support of his words, he presents her with Alicia Marcus ( original ), the aged daughter of Marcus. Alice is an improved copy of Alicia, devoid of predisposition to progeria, as well as physically improved. Alice does not believe Isaacs, however the Red Queen confirms his words. Claire grabs Wesker's gun and tries to shoot Isaacs, but he manages to escape. Doc tries to make excuses to Claire for his actions, but she shoots him.

Alicia reports that in a few minutes a complete genocide of people will be committed. However, she also says that if the antivirus is sprayed, Alice will die, because there is still a T-virus in her blood. Alice and Claire run to the battle with Isaacs. Meanwhile, Alicia uses the device in the form of a contact lens and writes her memories on it.

Isaacs orders the Red Queen to transfer control of the corporation to his sole control. The queen obeys the order and before shutting down, tells Isaacs that he and all Umbrella’s top management will die here. Behind him are Alice and Claire. A fight ensues. Isaacs knocks Claire down. Alice continues to fight him in the laser-shielded hallway. During the battle, Isaac chopped off with a laser a part of the phalanges of Alice's fingers on her left hand, but she managed to put a grenade in the pocket of his jacket. The blast temporarily knocks out Isaacs, but the life-support system built into the body restores it. Alice gets to the surface and wants to break the flask with the antivirus, but the flask is intercepted by Isaacs and does not allow her to break. At this time, Isaac’s clone with a severed arm was just ripening. The Isaacs clone, hearing that he himself is not authentic, does not believe the original and in a fit of anger kills the original, shouting that he is the real doctor Isaacs. After a few moments, zombies attack him and devour him. At this moment, an explosion occurs in the Hive. Alicia and Wesker die, and with them the employees of the corporation, located in cryocapsules. Alice breaks a flask with an antivirus and all the zombies around her instantly fall dead. Alice faints .

A few hours later, Alice wakes up and sees Claire in front of her. The Red Queen communicates with Alice on a communicator and explains the reason why Alice is still alive . The antivirus destroyed the T-virus cells in her body without affecting healthy ones. Alicia intentionally said that the antivirus would kill Alice to see if she could sacrifice herself for others. As the Red Queen said, Alicia was not mistaken about Alice. In this regard, the Red Queen gives her the device with the memories of Alicia, so that Alice could truly find a personality .

The film ends with Alice's arrival in New York . Alice says that the spread of antivirus on Earth can take several years and until then its mission has not been completed. Flying mutants are reflected in the mirrors of the motorcycle. Alice presses on the gas and rushes forward.

After the fifth part was released, Paul Anderson gave an interview in which he stated that the next part was possible. Initially, Anderson planned to shoot the fifth and sixth parts in parallel, but later he decided to focus only on the fifth part. In his opinion, the franchise reached its climax and most likely the sixth part will be the last ^[9] , and after clarifying that it will be the last for him in this franchise ^[10] . In the same interview, Anderson said that everything would depend on the box office of Retribution. Milla Jovovich said she plans to star in the sixth part. Later, the head of Sony confirmed that the sixth film will be shot with Milla Jovovich in the title role ^[11] .

March 4, 2013 it was announced that a new film is scheduled for September 2014 ^[12] . However, Milla Jovovich in her Twitter unexpectedly stated that the sixth part of “Resident Evil” will be released, in her opinion, only in 2015 ^[13] . At the same time, the film's director Anderson expressed the hope that the picture will appear by the planned date ^[14] . Later there was information about the release in the rental in 2015, or 2016 ^[10] . As a result, the final release date was set for January 27, 2017.

Paul Anderson intended to start shooting the sixth part in the fall of 2013 ^[15] after finishing work on the Pompeii tape ^[16] . Filming started in South Africa in Cape Town , but was postponed to the summer of 2015 due to the pregnancy of Milla Jovovich ^[17] .
