Biography
Yusuf ibn Muhammad was born in 1124 (518 g.). His father was Caliph Muhammad al-Muqtafi , and his mother was the Georgian slave Taus. In 1160 (542 g.), He became the heir to the throne. Caliph al-Mustanjid was a virtuous, fair and educated person. He wrote poetry and studied science, including astronomy. During his reign, taxes and customs duties were significantly reduced. In Syria and Egypt, there were fierce wars between the crusaders and Muslims. Due to the decline of the Fatimid state , only Atabek Hyp ad-Din Zangi commanded the Muslim armies [1] .
