Contest History
The first competition was held in Moscow on November 28 and 29, 2008 on the stage of the concert hall of the Cosmos Hotel [1] [2] [3] . It was attended by 18 artists from 12 countries. The first place was shared between Kristina Svetlichnaya and the duet A-Lau, who represented Belarus and Kazakhstan, respectively.
| The idea of a children's music contest was on the surface. And the fact that the “New Wave” has been successfully held in Jurmala for seven years has spurred us to the earliest possible creation of a children's contest.Igor Krutoy, author of the project |
After the successful holding of the first competition, in 2009 the organizing committee received more than 4,000 applications from more than 20 countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Belarus, Georgia, Germany, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland , Slovakia, USA, Tajikistan, Ukraine and others. The competition was attended by children in two age categories: from 8 to 12 years old and from 13 years to 15 years. The event was again held in the Cosmos Concert Hall.
In 2010, after the signing of a memorandum on holding a competition under the patronage of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych , the venue was chosen Artek children's camp in Crimea [4] , which is the venue for the competition to this day.
Until 2011, participants performed in two categories: from 8 to 12 years old and from 13 to 15 years old, but then a decision was made to lower the age limit. As a result, since 2011, participants have been accepted at the age of 8 - 13 years [5] (age at the time of the final of the competition). In 2014, the age bracket was lowered to 12 years. The following year, the organizers of the competition switched to another scheme: instead of determining the age at the time of the final, the range of birth years began to be indicated in the competition regulations. So, for 2015, participants were accepted 2003-2009 years of birth.
