Biography
Ivan Kipot was born on March 27, 1914 in the village of Ligovka (now Sakhnovschinsky district of the Kharkov region of Ukraine ). In 1931 he graduated from the rabfak in Sakhnovschina , after which he worked as a foreman at a state farm . In 1936, Kipot was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He graduated from the regimental school, then junior lieutenant courses. Participated in the Polish campaign . Since June 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. By February 1944, Senior Lieutenant Ivan Kipot commanded the battery of the 504th light artillery regiment of the 65th light artillery brigade of the 18th artillery division of the 3rd artillery corps breaking through the 2nd shock army of the Leningrad Front . He distinguished himself during the crossing of Narva [1] .
On February 11, 1944, Kipotya’s battery crossed over Narva in the vicinity of the village of Dolgaya Niva, Slantsevsky District, Leningrad Region, and seized a bridgehead on its western shore. February 22 - 27, she repelled several enemy counterattacks, destroying 2 tanks, 1 self-propelled guns, 5 machine guns, about 100 soldiers and officers [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 1, 1944, for “courage and bravery shown in crossing the Narva River, seizing and holding a bridgehead on the left bank of the river,” Senior Lieutenant Ivan Kipot was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 3737 [1] .
After the war, Kipot continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1955, he graduated from the Central Officer Development Courses. In 1957, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, Kipot was sacked. He first lived in the village of Letichev in the Khmelnitsky region , where he worked in a repair building, then moved to Khmelnitsky . He died on September 25, 1983 [1] .
He was also awarded the orders of the Red Banner , Alexander Nevsky , World War 1 degree, Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
