Shin Gyeongsook ( cor. 신경숙 , January 12, 1963 , Province of Chollado ) is a South Korean writer.

Biography

She was born in a village in a peasant family - the eldest daughter and fourth child of six children. Sixteen came to Seoul to her older brother, worked and studied in evening school. She graduated from the Seoul Art Institute ( 1985 ), and the Winter Fairy Tale debuted in the same year, receiving the Chunan Award for Best Debut.

Creativity

The author of novels and short stories translated into many languages ​​in Europe and Asia. The widest international recognition came to her with the publication of the novel Please Take Care of Mom ( 2009 ), translated into many languages ​​and brought the prize of the British publishing group Man ( Man Asian Literary Prize ), which was first awarded to a woman.
