Malachi Ritscher ( born Malachi Ritscher ; born name Mark David Ritscher ; English January 13, 1954 , , North Dakota - November 3, 2006 , Chicago , Illinois ) - American musician, recording engineer, human rights activist and antiwar activist. His public self-immolation in protest of the Iraq war caused a great deal of resonance.

Biography
In childhood and adolescence he often moved with his family. Since 1969 he lived in Lincoln ( Nebraska ). Married at seventeen; became the father of a son named Malakai. Ten years later, divorced, changing his own name to Malakai. In 1981, he settled in Chicago. He studied music, played the guitar, performed songs. He worked at a recording studio. Many of his songs have been officially released. [ style ] . He was an anti-war activist, was arrested twice for participating in anti-war rallies. At rush hour on the morning of Friday November 3, 2006, in protest of the US and its allies invading Iraq, he committed a public suicide near downtown Chicago. On his website that day he wrote: “... if I have to pay for your barbaric war, I prefer not to live in your world”, after which I went to self-immolation [1] . At first, his death went unnoticed [2] . In his message, Reacher also blamed himself for not killing Donald Rumsfeld [1] .
