The National Museum of Agriculture and Food Industry ( Polish: Muzeum Narodowe Rolnictwa i Przemysłu Rolno-Spożywczeg ) is a museum located in the village of Sreniava, Poznan County, Greater Poland Voivodeship , Poland . History
The museum was founded in 1964. In 1975, received the status of the National Museum. The museum continues the activities of the Warsaw Museum of Agriculture and Industry, which was destroyed in 1939. In 1964-1998, the museum belonged to the Ministry of Industry; since 1999, the museum has been owned by the Local Government Authority of Greater Poland Voivodeship.
The museum is a member of the Association of Polish Museums - the Greater Poland Department and the Society of Open-Air Museums. The museum is also a member of the International Society of Agricultural Museums (AIMA). In 1998, the museum organized the XII Congress of the International Society of Agricultural Museums, which was dedicated to the methodology of demonstrating the development of agricultural machinery in museum business.
Over the 45-year period of its existence, the museum has collected more than 20 thousand different museum exhibits representing the achievements of Polish rural folk material and cultural activities.
The museum also owns a library of more than 34 thousand volumes and a rich archive related to Polish agriculture.
Activities
The museum carries out its statutory tasks using various forms of activity. The main objective of the museum is the collection and preservation of museum materials related to agriculture. The museum organizes various scientific seminars, entertainment and educational events, among which the most famous are the annual fairs “Jarmark Wielkanocny” (Easter Fair), “Festyn Zielonoświątkowy” (Festival for the Descent of the Holy Spirit), “Wesele wiejskie” (Village Holidays) and “Retro” Show ".
Since 1986, the museum has been studying monuments and agricultural objects in Greater Poland Voivodeship. The result of this work was the 1994 catalog of valuable agricultural items from all the counties of Greater Poland Voivodeship.
Branches
Currently, the museum includes five branches:
- Museum of Nature and Hunting in the village of Uzazhovo;
- Museum of flour and water technology in the village of Yarach ;
- Museum of weaving and hop growing in the city of Nowy Tomysl ;
- Beekeeping Museum in Swarzedz ;
- Museum of the meat industry in the village of Selinko.
