Huseyniya ( Arabic: حسينية ), also known as ashur-khan , imambargan and tekiya, is the place where Shiites gather for holding mourning events on the day of ashura ( taziya ). The name comes from the name of Hussein ibn Ali , the grandson of the prophet Muhammad and the third Shiite imam. Every year, Shiites mourn Hussein, who was killed on October 10, 680 in Karbala ( Iraq ).

Husseinia differs from the mosque in that it is intended mainly for meetings during the mourning of Hussein ibn Ali.
In South Asia, Husseinia has the names imambara, imambargan or ashur khan. In Bahrain and the UAE, it is called ma'tam ( Arabic: مأتم ), in Afghanistan and Central Asia - tekya khan. Husseinia, as a rule, was built on the main street and square, in the courtyards of caravanserais, as well as on the territory of tombs and other places of worship [1] .
