Drakensbergena prolixa (lat.) - a species of jumping insects of the tribe Drakensbergenini from the subfamily of cicadas Deltocephalinae ( Cicadellidae ). South Africa : KwaZulu-Natal, at heights up to 1511 m. Length about 7 mm The antennae are short (their length is 1.3-1.5 mm). Short-winged with head stretched forward. The head is equal to or wider than the pronotum (head - 1.4-1.5 mm, pronotum - 1.3-1.4 mm). Macroset formula of the hips is 2 + 1 or 2 + 1 + 1. The lateral margin of the pronotum is keeled. Ocellia reduced. They are found in grassy high-altitude biomes of southern Africa with a predominance of Festuca ( Poaceae ). The species was first described in 2009 by South African entomologist Michael Stiller ( Michael Stiller , ARC-Plant Protection Research Institute, Queenswood, Pretoria ) [1] [2] .
