Frantisek Xaver Brixi ( Czech František Xaver Brixi ; January 2, 1732 , Prague - October 14, 1771 , ibid.) - Bohemian (now Czech Republic ) composer and musician of the 18th century , a vivid representative of the era of early classicism in music.

Biography

Born in the family of the composer Simon (Shimon) Brixi ( Czech Šimon Brixi ) (1693-1735). He received his musical education at the gymnasium at the monastery of publicists in Cosmonosi .

After graduating from high school in 1749, Brixie returned to Prague, where he served as a church organist , and from 1759 he became bandmaster in the Cathedral of St. Vita, Wenceslas and Wojtech in Prague [4] .

Creativity

Frantisek Xaver Brixi is the author of more than 400 works of sacred music [5] , including eight organ concerts, which are vivid examples of this rather rare genre, oratorios , cantatas , about 100 masses, psalms , works for organ, clavier , chamber and orchestra compositions.
