Drakensbergena austrina (lat.) Is a species of jumping insects of the Drakensbergenini tribe from the subfamily of the Tsadok deltocephalinae ( Cicadellidae ). South Africa : Eastern Cape. The length of males is about 8 mm (females up to 10 mm). Antennae almost half or third of the total body length (length 2.6-4.0 mm). Short-winged with head stretched forward. The head is equal to or wider than the pronotum . Macrosetal back hip formula is 2 + 1 or 2 + 1 + 1. Lateral pronotal margin keeled. Ozellium reduced. Found in the grassy high-altitude biomes of southern Africa: found at Festuca sp. ( Poaceae ). The species was first described in 2009 by the South African entomologist Michael Stiller ( Michael Stiller , ARC-Plant Protection Research Institute, Queenswood, Pretoria ) [1] [2] .
