Sergei Leonidovich Smetanin (October 16, 1954 - May 24, 2005) is a harmonist virtuoso and composer of Russian folk music .

Content

Biography

Born October 16, 1954 in the village of Beryozovka, Krasnoborsky district, Arkhangelsk region . In the period from 1967 to 1969 he studied at the Krasnoborsky School of Music in the accordion class with the teacher G. D. Krasiy [1] . He received further education at the Arkhangelsk College of Music . In 1971, he began his career as an accordion player at the Palace of Culture of the Arkhangelsk Timber Plant No. 4.

In 1972-1974 he served in the army. After she directed the pop orchestra of the Palace of Culture of Solombala Pulp and Paper Mill .

In 1975-1993 he worked in the orchestra of the State Academic Northern Russian Folk Choir , including as a harmonist-soloist [1] [2] . He collaborated with many Russian folk orchestras and ensembles, including the N.P. Osipov National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Russia (since 1991).

Since 1993, he taught at the Arkhangelsk School of Culture . Regular participant of the TV show “ Play, accordion!” ".

He died on May 24, 2005.

Memory

In the Krasnoborsky district of the Arkhangelsk region, an annual festival of harmony "Smetaninsky Meetings" [3] is held , initiated by the Pomeranian State Philharmonic Society . In 2013, this festival received international status [4] .

The Krasnoborsky Children's Art School, in which Sergei Smetanin studied [1] , was named after him on June 27, 2012 [5] .
