Biography
Frans Staflö was born in the Welsen community on September 8, 1921 . He studied at a school in Bussum , then the family moved to Utrecht , where France continued to receive education. In 1940, France entered the University of Utrecht ; during the Second World War, he hid in order not to be sent to military operations in Germany. In 1947, Stafleu married Charlotte Corporation.
In 1948, he successfully defended his dissertation on the genus Vochysia , under the guidance of Professor A. A. Pull . A year later he went to Java , but in December he was forced to return to the Netherlands because of the insecurity of being in independent Indonesia . In 1951, France Anthony became the first editor-in-chief of the botanical magazine Taxon , worked in its editorial office until 1992 .
Stafle was the author of many books and summaries on the botanical nomenclature and literature.
France Anthony Stafleu died in Utrecht on December 16, 1997 .
