al-Ba’s ba'd al-Maut ( Arabic: البعث بعد الموت - resurrection after death), in Islamic eschatology - universal resurrection at the end of time. Faith in the resurrection is part of the Islamic concept of the End of the World ( Akhirat ) and one of the fundamental principles of the Islamic faith ( akid ).
Creed
According to the creed of orthodox Islam, both souls and bodies will be resurrected. This is stated in the 6th and 7th verses of Sura al-Hajj : “ This happens because Allah is the Truth, revives the dead and is capable of every thing, because the Hour, in which there is no doubt, will certainly come and because Allah will resurrect those who in the graves ” [1] . Muslims attach the utmost importance to this event.
The word ba’s in the meaning of “resurrection” is mentioned in the 15 verses of the Qur'an . The Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad explains the details of this event. According to the teachings of orthodox Islam, the state after death is the same kind of being as life, but it is not non-existence [2] .
According to Islamic doctrine, after death, the souls of the dead fall into the other world ( barzah ). Souls who have left their bodies experience bliss or misery ( azab al-kabr ) in the barzah and remain there until the day of the Court ( kiyamat ) [3] . After all people and angels die, the angel Israfil with the sound of a trumpet will announce the resurrection of the dead for the Last Judgment ( kiyamat ) [4] .
