Biography
He studied philosophy, literature, religious studies at the Free University of Berlin and the Higher Normal School in Paris . He came close in Paris with Derrida and Lacan , translated the works of the latter, as well as Paul de Mans , verses by Jean Deva . He published and commented on the poetry of Celan . He directed the Meridian: Crossing Aesthetics book series at Stanford University Press . He taught at Johns Hopkins University , University of Amsterdam , Normal High School. Since 1998 - Professor of Frankfurt , since 2003 - New York University .
