Tanzania national rugby union team Tanzania represents Tanzania in top-level international rugby matches-15 . The team is known by the nickname Twigas (translated from Swahili - " giraffes "). The National Rugby Union is a member of the IRB , but the team is not represented in the international ranking of teams [2] . Tanzania has never performed in the finals of the world championships .

In the 1970s, Tanzania regularly played matches against Kenya . However, the first officially recognized match of the national team took place only in 2004 - then the Tanzanians won against Burundi . In 2006, Tanzania won the African Trophy Development Tournament.
