History
On August 30, 1894, Pope Leo XIII established the Diocese of Tolima, separating it from the Diocese of Popayan (today - the Archdiocese of Popayan ) and the Archdiocese of Nueva Pamplona . On the same day, the Diocese of Tolima entered the Metropolitanate of Nueva Pamplona.
On May 20, 1900, the Diocese of Tolima was abolished, and its territory was transferred to the Diocese of Popayan and the new dioceses of Garcon and Ibague (today - the Diocese of Ibague ).
