"Emperor Franz" - sailing 110-gun battleship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet . Named after the emperor of Austria, Russia's ally in the Holy Alliance [1] .

Service History
The ship "Emperor Franz" was laid in Kherson and, after launching in 1821, became part of the Black Sea Fleet.
As part of the squadron was in practical voyages in the Black Sea in 1822 , 1823 and 1825 .
He took part in the Russian-Turkish war . April 21, 1828 left Sevastopol as part of the squadron of Vice Admiral A.S. Greig under the flag of Vice Admiral F.F. Messer . On May 2, he arrived at Anapa, where he landed on May 6 [2] , but due to heavy rainfall he could not get close to the shore and did not take part in shelling the fortress [3] . On May 15, he went to Sevastopol at the head of the squadron of Vice Admiral F.F. Messer with the wounded and sick on board. Then he went to Kovarna to cover the ships delivering supplies to the Russian troops. On July 13 , the squadron of A. S. Greig approached Kovarna and the “Emperor Franz” with the fleet left for Varna [1] .
He took part in the blockade of Varna . July 22 as part of the fleet approached the fortress. On August 7, as part of the squadron, maneuvering under sails, intensively bombarded the fortress on the move for three hours [2] . On October 6, after the surrender of Varna, he left with the squadron and by October 12 arrived in Sevastopol .
On April 19, 1829, as part of the squadron of Admiral A.S. Greig, he came from Sevastopol to Sisopol . From April 26 to May 3 and from May 15 to 26, as a part of the squadron, he went on a cruise to the Bosphorus .
In June 1829, part of the crew switched to the frigates " Flora " and " Standart ", therefore, did not go to sea and stood at Sisopol to protect the city from the sea. July 7 went to Sevastopol with the sick and wounded on board. By July 29, he returned to Sisopol, bringing there 1,458 soldiers and officers. On August 7, he again transported to Sevastopol the wounded and sick from Sisopol.
In 1830, went on a cruise to the Black Sea , and in 1832 the “Emperor Franz” was dismantled.
