Bishop Michael (in the world Matvey Kopystensky , Polish. Mateusz Kopystyński ; d. 1610 ) - Bishop of the Kiev Metropolis of the Constantinople Orthodox Church , Bishop of Peremyshl and Samborsky
Comes from a noble noble family (coat of arms of Leliv ). Was married.
From 1591 - Bishop of Przemysl and Sambir .
Like Bishop Gideon of Lviv, Balaban , at first he was inclined to accept the union, but when union was approved by the Council’s definition in 1596, Bishop Michael declared himself an irreconcilable opponent of it, for which the Uniates and Gideon Balaban were anathematized.
Despite this, Bishop Michael continued to fulfill his episcopal duty and ordained priests even to other dioceses, whose bishops fell into union. He also took a lot of harassment from the local Polish gentry, who took away land and houses belonging to the Przemysl bishopric.
He died in 1610 (according to other sources in 1612).
