Symphonic mugam is a genre of Azerbaijani music. Created in 1948 by composer Fikret Amirov . F. Amirov, based on the features of the musical material and composition of the mugams , wrote the symphonic works Shur and Kurd-Ovshary , thereby laying the foundation of the genre in Azerbaijani symphonic music. The main feature of this genre is that it preserves the principles characteristic of mugam destgyah (the principle of development based on a gradual, consistent ascent, composition structure, line of dramatic movement), while the development of mugam melodies uses methods of symphonic development, a variety of orchestration.
