Biography
Born on May 6 (18), 1897 (according to other sources - May 30 [1] ) in Erivan (now Yerevan ), in the family of a civil servant.
He received his elementary education in Agulis , where his father transferred to the post of employee of the government of the province. In 1908 he graduated from high school and entered the Russian school of Yerevan , but from the fourth grade he transferred to the Russian teacher’s seminary, which he graduated in 1917.
In 1916, on the recommendation of a classmate, Janibekyan was in the group that was engaged in amateur performances. At that time he was indifferent to the theater, and dreamed of becoming a mining engineer. His first serious role was the role of Grigor Aga in the play “The Cliff” by Vrtanes Papazyan , which was staged in a teacher's theater group in one of the Yerevan schools.
In 1920 he participated in the performances of the troupe Zarifyan - Abelyan .
From 1921 to March 1922 he worked in Persia . Returning to Soviet Armenia , he enters the theatrical troupe of Armen Armenian in Alexandrapol (now Gyumri ).
In 1923-1924 he worked in the Tiflis Armenian Theater .
The life of Janibekyan is continuously connected with the First State Theater of Armenia (now the Armenian Theater named after Sundukyan ), which he entered in 1924 and worked until his death. In the theater, Janibekyan played a hundred roles, also staged performances. He directed the theater in 1965-1967.
In 1947-1949 he taught acting at the Yerevan Theater Institute .
Member of the CPSU (b) since 1944. In 1940-1949 he was the first chairman of the Armenian Theater Society.
He died on September 27, 1978 . He was buried in Yerevan at the Tokhmakh cemetery.

He translated many plays from Russian into Armenian (The Last ones by M. Gorky and others). He wrote the comedy “Tajat Amazaspovich is angry” together with A. Barseghyan [2] .
