Biography and career
Born Skrivens was born in the town of Spruce Grove , located near Edmonton , and began his career in the home team "Spruce Grove Colts Bantam". Having changed several clubs in the minor leagues, he entered Cornell University and in the 2009/10 season he was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the NCAA .
In the 2010/11 season, Ben got into the Toronto Maple Leafs NHL club system, however, he did not play a match in the main team, as he played in the American Hockey League for the Toronto Marlies farm club .
Skrivens debuted in the NHL the following year, when he recorded 12 matches for the Maples.
In the 2011/12 season he was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the AHL .
Plying over the course of three seasons between the NHL and the AHL , the goalkeeper did not gain a foothold in the “base” of “Toronto” and decided to change the club. True, in the Los Angeles Kings , Skrivens played only 19 fights, after which he moved to his homeland - to the Edmonton Oilers . It was for the “oil workers” that Ben spent his best season in the NHL - 2014/15, in which he played 57 matches.
In 2015, Skrivens ended up at Montreal Canadiens , where he never became a major player, having spent most of the year in pharmacies - Bakersfield Condors and St. John's .
On July 14, 2016, Ben Skrivens made his debut in the KHL by signing a one-year unilateral contract with Minsk Dynamo .
On July 4, 2017, Ben Skrivens signed a one-year contract with the Ufa-based Salavat Yulaev .
International Career
In 2014, the goalkeeper received a call to the Canadian national team . Then the world championship ended for the “Maple Leaves” in the quarter-finals. He was part of the Canadian national team at the 2018 Olympic Games, which won the bronze medal of the tournament.
Personal life
Ben Scrivens is married. His wife Jenny was the goalkeeper of the Cornell University hockey team, and completed her career last season with the New York Rivers .
