Biography
Gained loud fame persistent struggle against the Jesuit Order . Prisoner in a fortress on the island of Mont Saint-Michel in 1753 for opposing the government on the issue of church benefits, he did not stop his pursuit of this order and was one of the main culprits of his fall. His " Discours sur les constitutions des Jésuites " and " Compte rendu sur la doctrine des Jésuites " about the doctrines and regulations of this spiritual congregation had a strong influence on public opinion and led to the edict of the royal edict of November 1764, signed by Louis XV , by which the Jesuits were expelled from the country (for details, see the destruction of the Jesuit Order ) [1] .
