Biography
Yuri Shadura was born on February 9, 1961 in the city of Korosten, Zhytomyr Region . By nationality - Ukrainian. After graduation, he entered a military school. In 1982 he graduated from the Omsk Higher Combined Arms Command School and was sent to serve in the city of Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg ). Having become an officer, he went from a platoon commander to the intelligence chief of a motorized rifle regiment.
In the 1990s, Shadur served in the Urals Military District , in the city of Chebarkul, Chelyabinsk Region . He took part in the hostilities in the North Caucasus. He distinguished himself on his first business trip, being sent to Chechnya . Near Gudermes, with a group of scouts, he discovered an artillery mount and a stronghold of militants, which were then destroyed by targeted fire of artillery of the federal troops. For participating in this successful operation, Shadur was awarded the Order of Military Merit .
In the fall of 1999, he was appointed chief of intelligence of the regiment sent to Chechnya. This was the third trip of Lieutenant Colonel Shadura. In one of the reconnaissance, the group ran into an ambush of militants. But the scouts managed to escape from the fire almost without loss, and the commander carried on himself a wounded aircraft pilot. For bold attacks, mined in the most difficult conditions, valuable intelligence Yuri Shadura was awarded the Order of Courage .
On December 25, 1999, the reconnaissance chief of the regiment, Lt. Col. Yuri Shadura, with the reconnaissance group, carried out the mission in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny . Having fallen under intensive shelling of militants, a group of Shadur entered the battle, during which Yuri Dmitrievich himself was wounded. Due to the fact that the enemy was many times superior in number to the reconnaissance group, Lieutenant Colonel Shadur decided to withdraw and personally covered the withdrawal of the group, he died. Only two days later, regiment units managed to capture the height and carry the body of their commander.
Yuri Shadura was buried on January 8, 2000 in his homeland, in the city of Korosten, Zhytomyr Region [4] .
By a decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated April 13, 2000, for the courage and heroism shown during the performance of a special task, Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Dmitrievich Shadure was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation .

Memory
- On July 27, 2000, the Golden Star medal was deposited with the widow of Yuri Shadura.
- The name of the Hero of Russia Yuri Shadura is immortalized at the memorial of the 324th motorized rifle regiment in the Chebarkul garrison [8] .
- In 2008 , in the city of Chebarkul, a memorial plaque was installed on the house in which the Hero lived [9] [10] .
