History (1985-1987)
It is believed that Suicidal Tendencies temporarily ceased to exist in 1983. However, this is not quite true. Mike and Jim Muir founded an independent record label, Suicidal Records. The label's goals were the release of both Suicidal Tendencies albums and the neighborhood groups of Venice Beach and Santa Monica. The debut release of this small record company was the album Welcome To Venice , a compilation that debuted groups such as No Mercy, Beowulf and Excel. Also, in the process of recording this collection, a project called Los Cycos was formed , consisting of participants from Suicidal Tendencies ( Rocky George , Mike Muir) and No Mercy ( Mike Clark and Sal Troy). Los Cycos 's song “It's Not Easy” was re-released later in 1989 on Suicidal Tendencies Controlled By Hatred / Feel Like Shit ... Deja Vu . The compilation was opened by the track Suicidal Tendencies, recorded as a part of Mike Muir, Luice Mayorga, Rocky George and Ralph Herrera - (Look Up!) The Boys Are Back .
In total, 4 albums were released on Suicidal Records: the mentioned compilation Welcome To Venice (1985), the debut album Beowulf (1986), the debut (and only) No Mercy album "Widespread Bloodshed, Love Runs Red" (1986) and the album of the Excel group "Split Image " (1987).
In the process of the Suicidal Records label, Mike Muir decided that for the release of the album Suicidal Tendencies, however, it would be better to find a release company with more powerful capabilities, especially in organizing the distribution of albums. So he came to Caroline Records , the low-budget office of the record giant Virgin Records . The subsequent album work of Excel “Tapping Into Eternal Void” and 1988 Beowulf of Lost My Head ... But I'm Back on the Right Track were later released on Caroline Records .
