The metropolitan area of Winnipeg ( Eng. Winnipeg Capital Region ) is an area in the center of the Canadian province of Manitoba . Includes Winnipeg, the provincial capital, and nearby cities and rural municipalities. The area is classified by Statistics Canada as census site 11, with the exception of Brokenhead Reservation 4 of the Ojibwe Indigenous People in the rural municipality of St. Clements. The area of the region is 7,784.63 km² , the population is 767,380 people.
