Biography
Born December 2, 1913 in Trieste in the family of Italian and Slovenes. She moved with her family to Trieste after the First World War, where she graduated from school. She studied at the philological faculty of the University of Ljubljana , was a student revolutionary movement. Before the war, joined the KPU. She graduated from university in 1938, in 1940 got a job as a teacher of German in Kosovsk-Mitrovica. At school, she provided material assistance to students from poor families; at the initiative of Silvira, a canteen was opened for poor children.
In the partisan movement, Silvira has been a member of the KPU cell in Kosovsk-Mitrovica since 1941. She recruited volunteers to the Kopaoniksky partisan detachment and served as chairman of the Women's Anti-Fascist Front Committee in Kosovsk-Mitrovica. In May 1942 she was arrested by the Gestapo, after torture she refused to go over to the side of the Reich. On August 17, 1942, Silvira Tomasini had to go to Belgrade to the local Gestapo office, but escaped from the hands of the Gestapo and tried to escape. She was arrested at the scene, sent to prison and beaten to death there.
Posthumously awarded the Order of the National Hero November 27, 1953 .
