Creativity
Vladimir Kazakov - the successor of the traditions of the Russian avant-garde , especially the Futurists and Oberiuts . In prose, poetry and plays based on absurdism, pun, grotesque, he addressed the topics of human alienation, loneliness, cruelty of generally accepted living standards. Kazakov's works were distributed in samizdat , and since 1971 were published in the West. In the USSR in 1966, several prosaic miniatures were published in the magazines Radio-Television and Rural Youth ; the next publication took place in 1989, after the death of the writer.
Written in 1970, Kazakov’s novel, “The Mistake of the Living” (1976), is a free association of 17 fragments in which the absurd nature of the narrative is even stronger. The title is justified only by a hint of V. Khlebnikov ’s drama “Error of Death” (1916). Unity is achieved not through the plot, but through the return of names, repeated methods of transmitting absurdity (rearrangement in the system of subject-object, spiritualization of things, etc.) and the frequent use of the semantic field of the words “mirror”, “clock”, “lantern”. <...> Short prose works by Kazakov are very saturated. The author is fully focused on the word. This is his reaction to confidence in the logical cognition of the world and the exclusion of everything transcendental, characteristic of a different worldview.
