Joan Hambidge ( African: Joan Helene Hambidge ; born September 11, 1956 , Alival-North, Eastern Cape ) is a South African poetess , writes in Afrikaans , sometimes translates her poems into English.

Biography
Studied at Stellenbosch University and the University of Pretoria . She defended her thesis at the University of Rhodes ( 1985 , supervisor - Andre Brink ), the second - at the University of Cape Town ( 2001 ). At present, he is a professor at the School of Language and Literature at the University of Cape Town, engaged in the theory of literature, developing the ideas of Roland Bart and combining them with psychoanalysis .
