History
On January 29, 1915, Pope Benedict XV issued the bull “Universi Dominici Gregis” , which established the Diocese of Herico, separating it from the Diocese of Antioquia (today - the Archdiocese of Santa Fe de Antioquia ).
In 1916, a diocesan seminary was opened in Heriko.
On February 5, 1917, Pope Benedict XV issued the bull Quod Catholicae Religionis , which combined the Diocese of Heriko with the Diocese of Antioquia, which became known as the Diocese of Antioquia Herico. In the same year, the Diocese of Antioquia Herico transferred several parishes of the Diocese of Santa Rosa de Ososa and in 1918 to the Apostolic Prefecture of Urban.
On July 3, 1941, Pope Pius XII issued the bull Universi Dominici Gregis, which restored the Diocese of Heriko after splitting the Diocese of Antioquia Heriko in two. The diocese of Heriko and Antioquia included the territory of the apostolic prefecture of Urban, which was abolished on the same day.
