In 1934, he was called up for military service; he underwent active military service in the Navy. [1] Since 1940, he worked at the Sopcha mine for nickel mining in Monchegorsk .

June 24, 1941 Monchegorsk RVK drafted into the army, was in the 15th separate machine gun battalion of the Northern Fleet. From the first days of the war he was at the forefront, in 1944 he was awarded the badge "Excellent Navy."

During the Petsamo-Kirkenes operation, the battalion participated in the assault on the enemy’s fortified strip on the Musta-Tunturi ridge . On October 10, 1944, reconnaissance groups of the battalion discovered that the enemy had left firing points on the middle and left hills of the southern slopes of the ridge. However, on the "Rocky" hill, a rearguard remained, covering the retreat. [2] The command of the battalion decided to surround the hill and, to divert attention, the platoon of Lieutenant Fokin, on the orders of the company commander, launched a demonstrative attack on the enemy's forehead. Senior sergeant Musteykis crept up to the bunker embrasure, the machine gun fire from which prevented the advance of the assault group, and threw grenades at it, but was mortally wounded and fell on the embrasure with his body, closing it.

He was presented for awarding the Order of the Red Banner , but was posthumously awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree .

He was buried in a cemetery in the village of Bolshoy Ozerko on the Rybachy Peninsula .
