Evgeni Valentinovich Protopopov (b. 1957) - rector of the Siberian State University , professor of the department of metallurgy of ferrous metals. Born in Stalin in 1957. He graduated from 11th school in Novokuznetsk. He entered the Siberian Metallurgical Institute in 1975 with a degree in steel metallurgy. He graduated from the media in 1980. In 1982 he entered the graduate school of the Dneprodzerzhinsky Industrial Institute . In 1987 he defended his thesis “Development, research and improvement of the blast regime of steel smelting in converters with combined purging with oxygen and neutral gas”. Since 1986 he has been working as a teacher in the media . Since 1991 he is the head of the department of steel metallurgy. From 1995 to 2010 - Dean of the Metallurgical Department of SibGIU (SibGGMA). From 2010 to 2013 - Director of the Metallurgical Institute of SibGIU . In 1999 he defended his doctoral dissertation "Development of the theory and integrated technology of converter smelting with varying parameters of metal filling." In 2008, he participated in the election for the post of rector of SibGIU . Chairman of the Kuzbass branch of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He is the chief editor of the journal “Bulletin of the Siberian State Industrial University” and the collection of scientific papers “Bulletin of the mining and metallurgical section of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Department of Metallurgy ”, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal“ Izvestia Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii. Ferrous metallurgy ”, chairman of the dissertation council D212.252.01 at the Siberian State Industrial University, chairman of the Presidium of the West Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He teaches at the Department of Metallurgy of ferrous metals. He heads the dissertation council D 212.252.01 at SibGIU. May 24, 2018 at the conference of workers and students re-elected rector.
