History
On May 20, 1900, the Holy See established the Diocese of Garcon, isolating it from the abolished Diocese of Tolima . On the same day, the Diocese of Garzon entered the Metropolitan Popayan .
On February 25, 1964, the Diocese of Garcon was renamed the Diocese of Garcon-Neiva.
On July 24, 1972, the Diocese of Garcon-Neiva transferred part of its territory for the construction of the new Diocese of Neiva and was renamed the Diocese of Garcon on the same day.
On December 14, 1974, the Diocese of Garzon entered the Metropolis of Ibague.
