Bikstu parish ( Latvian. Bikstu pagasts ) is one of the eleven territorial units of the Dobele region . Located on the border of the Lielauc Hills and the Sparnensky Wave Plain of the East Kurzeme Upland .

It borders on Anneniek and Zebren volosts of its region, as well as on Remt and Bliden volosts of Brocene region and Jaunpils parish of Jaunpils region .
The largest settlements of the Bikst volost: Biksts (volost center), Bikstation, Yauna Maya, Mazbiksts, Upenieki.
The rivers flow through the territory of the volost: Berze, Bikstupa, Zushupite.
Large reservoirs: Lake Zebrus.
Highest point: Silakalns (142 m).
National structure: 87.5% - Latvians, 2.8% - Russians, 2.7% - Belarusians, 2.3% - Lithuanians, 1.8% - Poles, 1.5 - Gypsies, 1% - Ukrainians.
The volost is crossed by the highway Riga - Liepaja and the railway line Jelgava - Liepaja ( Biksta and Josta stations).
History
In 1935, the territory of the Bikst volost of the Tukum district was 62.6 km², 1265 people lived in it.
After World War II , several collective farms were organized in the volost. Subsequently, they formed the large Bikste collective farm, the territory of which, some time later, was included in the Kakeniyeki state farm, which was liquidated in the early 1990s.
In 1945, the Bikst and Springs village councils were formed in Bikst volost. In 1949, the volost division was abolished and the Bixt village council was part of the Dobele district.
In 1950, the territory of the liquidated Springs Village Council was annexed to the Bixt Village Council. In 1963, 1975 and 1989, a series of territorial exchanges with neighboring village councils followed [2] .
In 1990, the Bixt Village Council was reorganized into the Bixt Village. In 2009, at the end of the Latvian administrative-territorial reform, the Bikst volost became part of the Dobele region.
Nowadays, there are 6 economically active enterprises in the volost, 351 private enterprises, the Bikst basic school, the Bikst volost library, the house of culture, feldsher and midwife points, forestry, and the post office [3] .
