Gameplay
Gameplay is somewhat different from previous games. The game has a full open world, a whole city consisting of four districts, much more than what the players saw in Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 . The player is free to go where he wants, and also to destroy the zombies with improvised means, weapons and that he will make himself. Combining weapons no longer requires a workbench. For example, having a flashlight and a pistol with him, the player can independently combine them without resorting to using a machine. Also, the game has vehicles, and its role is much greater than in the early games of the series (the player will have to use cars to move around the city, as well as combine machines to create very powerful hybrids).
In the Xbox One version, the Kinect controller is heavily used. With it, you can push the zombies, making the appropriate movements with your hands, and other sounds in the player’s room will attract the living dead to his character in the game itself [13] .
Characters
- Nick Ramos - The protagonist of the game, auto mechanic. It has on the neck tattoo "12". It is one of 50 infected orphans harvested by Carlito Kiz. Unlike all other orphans, Carlito made Nick immune, not infected. Despite the fact that Nick 12 of 50 infected orphans, in Dead Rising his current name was not listed in the list of infected orphans, and his "previous" name Liz Jackson. Perhaps the list was fake so that the orphans would not be searched around the world. At the end of the game he flew out of the city on an airplane with other heroes.
- Dick - Trucker. In the plot takes a very small value, is the second playable character for the cooperative. At the end of the game he flew out of the city on an airplane with other heroes.
- Annie - Illegal girlfriend, girlfriend, and then the girl of the protagonist. As it turns out to be closer to the end of the game, in fact, her full name is Kathy En Green, she is the daughter of Chuck Green, the protagonist of the second part of the game. - Rhonda - A female auto mechanic, has a workshop in Inlton. At a certain point, Hemlock’s fighters find her and cut off her arm, which was later replaced with a prosthesis, a flamethrower. At the end of the game for the Agent in the "Unsold Stories" DLC is evacuated along with the survivors and other heroes ..
- General Hemlock - The main antagonist. He plans to take the zombie virus under control and seize power with it. At the end of the game was killed by Nick.
- Diego - Nick's childhood friend, military. It has on the neck tattoo "49". His real name was not listed, as he was fake and they did not search for orphans around the world. It is one of 50 infected orphans harvested by Carlito Kiz. Was torn by worms living in his body, being "activated".
- Garry - A man searching for Annie on the instructions of her father. He was married to Ronda, at the end of the game he restores relations with her. Remained in the city to evacuate the remaining survivors. At the end of the game for the Agent in the "Unsold Stories" DLC is evacuated along with the survivors and other heroes.
- Red - The leader of the group of illegal immigrants. Towards the end betrays the main characters. Annie was killed.

- Isabella Keyes - Sister Carlito Quiz. She worked for Marian, ostensibly against her will. In fact, she arranged a zombie apocalypse to find the immune orphan, who was Nick. At the end of the game for the Agent in the DLC "Untold Stories" is evacuated along with the survivors and other heroes, hiding the truth from them.
- President Paddock - President of the United States. It was turned into a zombie and killed by orders of Hemlock.
- Chuck Green - Protagonist of the second part of the game, appears closer to the end. Is the father of Annie, it is he - the man for whom Harry works. At the end of the game he flew out of the city on an airplane with other heroes.
Story
The events of the game take place ten years after the events of Dead Rising 2 , in the city of Los Perdidos, California [14] . Another outbreak of zombie virus breaks out in the city.
The game begins after 72 hours from the beginning of the epidemic. The protagonist, auto mechanic Nick Ramos, is looking for supplies for his small group, which includes a son with an elderly mother, truck driver Dick, a female mechanic Rhonda, and an illegitimate Annie (illegal immigrants are people who refused to implant themselves chips with a zombie medicine - Zombrex, since through them the government keeps track of their every step). During one of the sorties an airplane crash occurs, and the main character in a hurry runs to the diner. There, Dick, accidentally turning on the jukebox, lures the crowd of zombies, because of what the mother and son are killed, and Annie runs away through the crowd. Heroes have to go to the workshop of Ronda, where they organize a small base. There they discover that one of the guards has become a zombie, despite the fact that he has a Zombrex chip implanted into it.
On television, the group finds out that in 7 days the government will drop bombs on the city, which will destroy all life in it, and also that there is an emergency evacuation station in the city. Arriving at the scene, they discover that a gang of biker-marauders has captured the station. Having settled with them, Nick meets the group with his old friend Diego. Diego tells Nick about the plane on which they can fly out of the city, shows the keys to him, but accidentally drops them. Nick reaches for the keys, and at this moment he is bitten by a zombie, hiding under the car. Now the hero needs to find Zombrex, otherwise he will turn into a zombie. The hero goes to look for him in the crematorium. There he meets a man named Harry, who also needs to get to the crematorium to find the body of a single girl. The girl she found turned out to be very similar to Annie.
In the crematorium, as it turned out, there was no Zombrex. Nick, thinking he is doomed, agrees to have Harry shoot him. However, he does not get it, as he stumbles over the corpse of a girl, and releases the last bullet in her jaw. Then Harry notices that the bite from Nick has already healed. It turns out he has immunity.
Nick tells Harry about the plane, and that it needs fuel. Harry says that the man he works for will be able to get everything he needs. But for this he needs to bring the right girl. Since the found body was not so, Harry offers Nick to bring Annie, who looked like a found girl, in exchange for fuel. Nick finds Annie in one of the safe zones, which turned out to be the main base of illegal immigrants. In addition to Annie, there were several other illegal immigrants with a head named Red. When they found out why Nick had come, Red and Annie suggested another way to get fuel - to help them spoil the lives of the military, who did not save, but on the contrary, they killed the survivors so that no one would know the truth about their atrocities.
After some time, Nick produces fuel. The plane was almost ready to be dispatched, when suddenly a detachment of the military appeared and captured Nick and Diego and delivered to the laboratory. There, scientists, by activating a certain emitter on the characters, awaken the worms hidden inside Diego, and they tear it apart. However, on the main character it does not work, and he escapes. On the way, he meets a woman scientist, Isabella Keese - a character from the first part of Dead Rising and sister Carlito Kees - a man who staged the first outbreak of the epidemic. She says that Diego and Nick are one of the 50 orphans, time bombs harvested by Carlito (which explains their neck tattoo), and Diego successfully “detonated”. However, Nick - the only one of all 50, in which Carlito did not plant the worms, but on the contrary, made him immune.
Nick goes to a karaoke bar to meet with Annie, but meets Harry there, guarding the entrance to the building. After a short dialogue, Nick learns that Harry and Rhonda used to be a married couple. He sets off for Rhonda and finds her in a garage without a hand, instead of which he makes her a prosthesis - a flamethrower. By bringing Rhonda to Harry, Nick gets access to the karaoke bar and saves Annie. When the whole group is about to fly away by plane, Red is tricking them into the port and setting a trap. Isabella and Annie are trapped, and Red talks to Nick, explaining that for the sake of profit, he is going to surrender him to the military. Later, Nick defeats Red in a one-on-one battle.
In the evening, Harry's boss arrives at the port, in which Annie recognizes her father - Chuck Green (the hero of the second part of the game). Rhonda and Harry decide to stay in the city to help the survivors. When the remaining group is about to fly away, then Harry and Rhonda decide to stay, having heard on the radio about a certain "gathering" announced by Hemlock. Following along with Chuck behind the quadrocopter of the military, they observe the scene of the murder of Marian, which Hemlock throws off the roof. They will also learn that the "collection" is the systematic abduction of the "royal zombies" by the collector drones, in order to later create with them powerful biological weapons. Nick breaks the collection and, together with one of the last drones, hits the quadrocopter, which falls down after a small skirmish. Nick defeats Hemlock in an unequal fight and kicks him into the spinning blades of a quadrocopter. After the battle, Nick sees a plane flying in the sky, from which Annie is looking at him, after which he speaks to her on the radio.
In the scene after the credits show Isabella, who finds in the laboratory a laptop with compromising her video. In the video, it becomes clear that she is the instigator of the epidemic in Los Perdidos, in order to identify a person with immunity and find a cure for the virus. After viewing it, she breaks the laptop and leaves.
Endings
As in the previous games of the Dead Rising series, there are alternative endings in Dead Rising 3, based on the choice of the main character in the key moments of the plot. In total, Dead Rising has 3 four alternative endings:
The ending C (kill Harry instead of bringing Rhonda to him):
Nick kills Harry and frees Annie, then leads her to the plane, where they are waiting for Red and Isabella. Harry and Ronda are missing. After the battle with Red, the group tries to fly away, but the noise attracts zombies, and the plane itself does not take off due to a malfunction. The final text says that General Hemlock was accused of treason; there is an underground movement of the infected, the infection is spreading, rumors about an “orphan with immunity” still live.
Ending D (Get out of the metro station and go straight to the plane instead of saving Annie from the club)
Nick decides to throw the team and fly away alone, but the team meets him at the plane. For perfect meanness they fly away, leaving Nick in the city. The final text says that bombs were dropped on Los Perdidos; After the epidemic in Los Perdidos, the States were split into many regions, the infection is spreading, and rumors of an “orphan with immunity” have not been confirmed.
Ending F (Do not have time to complete the game in the allotted time of 7 days)
The cutscene shows how powerful incendiary bombs are being dropped at Los Perdidos, destroying the city. The final text says that the survivors were not found; a military dictatorship reigned in the States, pockets of resistance were suppressed by powerful biological weapons, and the infection continued to spread.
Alternative ending F (Fail the last plot task, letting Hemlock collect the necessary number of royal zombies)
Hemlock flies away. The final text says that bombs were dropped on Los Perdidos, no survivors were found; After the epidemic in Los Perdidos, the States were split into many regions, Hemlock created biological weapons and destroyed most of the planet, rumors of an "orphan with immunity" are not confirmed.
