History
In the List of populated areas of the Pskov province [1] in the Toropetsky district on the postal route “Toropets- Kholm ” Podgorodnoe estate is listed (3 yards, 16 inhabitants)
After the revolution , the farm "Podgorodnee" was organized on the basis of the estate. The village was called in the 1930-50s the state farm Podgorodnee . In the 1970s and 80s, the village of Podgorodnee.
In 1997 - 237 households, 603 residents. The central estate of the farm "Podgorodnee", the administration of the rural district, high school, kindergarten, recreation center, medical center.
Attractions
- Manor complex in the style of late classicism of the early XIX century, a park with ponds. The main house of the estate burned down in August 2015 [2] .
Famous People
The estate in Podgorodnoe was built at the beginning of the XIX century. Colonel A. M. Chelishchev, who was at one time the county leader of the nobility. Later, the owners of the estate were Korvin-Krukovsky - close relatives of the mathematician and writer S.V. Kovalevskaya (1850-1891) and the writer A.V. Korvin-Krukovskaya (Zhaklar) (1843-1887), who have been here many times.
