The shelter of Elizabeth and Mary is a social institution founded by Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna. It was dedicated to the memory of the dead daughters of Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich and Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna - Grand Duchess Elizabeth Mikhailovna (d. 1845) and Maria Mikhailovna (d. 1846).

History
XIX century
- On July 22, 1847 , at the initiative of the chairwoman of the Council of orphanages in St. Petersburg, Countess Yu.P. 1845) and Maria Mikhailovna (decease. 1846).
- Originally accommodated 130-150 children.
- 1866 - transferred to St. Petersburg
- In 1907-1909 project architect. Alexander Vasilyevich Druker on Elizavetinskaya Street A new three-storey red brick building was built for the shelter. Construction completed by Ing. G. A. Burnsheyn. ([174]. P. 79) Opened September 29, 1909
In 1909, 70 boys and about 100 girls were in the care of the shelter. After the October Revolution, the National Gymnasium opened here.
XX century
- 1907 - Shelter returned to Pavlovsk.
- 1907-1909 - the construction of a three-story building designed by the architect A. V. Drucker.
- Since 1917 the National Gymnasium has been opened in the shelter building.
- Until 1937 - a preschool orphanage named after May 1.
- Since 1937 - secondary school number 1.
- 1960s - city hospital.
- 1970s — 1998 - children's department of the State Research Institute of Pediatric Orthopedics. G. I. Turner.
- 1998 - Children's Department of the Orthopedic Research Institute named after N. A. Semashko.
XXI century
- 2011 - the complex social service center of the city of Pavlovsk was opened on the former territory of the shelter with the separation of daytime stay and temporary residence of pensioners and the disabled.
Church
- 1909 - The home church of the holy martyr Queen Alexandra was consecrated on the first floor of the building.
- 1919 - the church was moved to the wooden house of A. V. Terlikova on the second floor.
- July 15, 1922 - valuables were removed from the church, 3 icons and a silver cross of 1630 were transferred to the Museum of Pavlovsk Palace.
- 1939 - the church is closed.
- During World War II, the wooden house along with the church was destroyed.
