Polycarp Salavarieta Rios ( Spanish: Policarpa Salavarrieta Ríos ; January 24, 1796 , Guaduas - November 14, 1817 , Bogotá ) - a participant in the struggle for the independence of Colombia .

Biography
The exact date and place of birth is unknown. According to the most common version, she was born on January 24, 1796 in the city of Guaduas. At an early age, lost her parents.
During the Revolutionary War, it supported partisan units in the province of Casanar , supplying them with intelligence and recruiting volunteers for them. It was captured by the Spanish authorities, sentenced to death and executed on November 14, 1817 in the central square of Bogotá.
In 1967, the Congress of Colombia declared November 14 "Day of the Colombian woman."
